Mind Yoga: Introduction to Meditation

Afternoon Workshop

Sunday, February 24th,  1:30 PM to 3:30 PM

reflections in the waters ripples - flickr.comFor thousands of years the benefits of a regular practice of meditation have been praised by people from all walks of life.  The central place of meditation in the ancient tradition of yoga is very clear.  Meditation is the yoga of the mind.  It completes and fulfills our practice of physical yoga.  By focusing the mind in a relaxed way, meditation reveals the natural stillness, silence, and clarity of mind that is our innermost self.  The afternoon will include meditation instruction,  practice and discussion.  Participants should bring their own meditation cushion or chair, as well as a yoga mat.

Cost:   $45

Location:  Verge Power Yoga, 250 W. Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA

Lotus - chetana.org.jpgMeditation has been practiced for millennia as a way of relaxing the body and mind while at the same time cultivating greater self-awareness.  In mindfulness meditation we learn a more subtle sense of body awareness and begin to access deeper and deeper levels of relaxation.

Greater self-awareness arises through learning to rest the mind in the flow of present-moment experiencing.  As we let go of distractions and enter the moment of Now, the mind becomes stable, focused and calm.  We find a deep reservoir of well-being that has always resided within us.   Through a regular meditation practice these benefits overflow into our daily life bringing a greater sense of richness, depth and satisfaction.

Classes will include meditation practice, interactive talks, and discussion.  This course is appropriate for those with no prior meditation experience as well as anyone wanting to refresh and deepen their practice.  The course includes a Saturday morning group meditation intensive from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday February 9th.

This class is offered as a morning or evening class.

Cost:  $100 if registered by January 21st, $125 thereafter

Discovering Inner Peace

Public & Level 1 Day-Long Retreat

REVISED DATE,  LOCATION & REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

>>> Sunday March 2nd   9:30 AM to 5:00 PM <<<

Doorways - thequantumawakening.com.jpgUsually we’re on the go, chasing after what we want, attempting to avoid discontent.  At the same time we long for a feeling of peace – not just a fleeting experience, but peace that allows us to rest in tranquility, to heal from accumulated stress and the emotional reactivity of everyday life.  We long for a peace that is free of concerns about the past or worries about the future.  We dream of an inner peace and well-being that exits for no reason.

Meditation practice offers the direct experience of such an inner peace by showing us how to open and accept each moment 'as it is'.  As we open to what is present we find relief, simplicity, stillness and a deep sense of ease.  We discover the source of unlimited peace and well-being that has existed within us all along.

This retreat will include meditation, contemplative exercises, talks and discussion to focus on the direct experience of inner peace in our body, mind and spirit.  This is an excellent opportunity for beginning and experienced meditators alike to settle and abide in the tranquility of a group retreat.

What to bring:  There are a limited number of chairs and cushions available at Verge.  Please bring your own meditation cushion if you have one.  Everyone should bring water and a bag lunch or plan to go for take-out.  Bring a yoga mat and/or a blanket.

Cost:  $75 if registered by February 22nd, $100 thereafter
