mountain lake Gazing intently into the empty sky, vision ceases;

Likewise, when mind gazes into mind itself,

The train of discursive and conceptual thoughts ends

And supreme enlightenment is gained.

                                                                              - from The Ganges Mahamudra

Mahamudra refers to our most essential enlightened nature, the ever present natural state of Being that is revealed when all veils of misunderstanding have been cleared away.  No words can adequately describe this experience which has the qualities of boundless clarity, emptiness, love, and bliss.

This year our advanced meditation class will be devoted to studying and deepening our practice of Mahamudra, a quintessential non-dual meditation practice from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. To guide our practice we will study The Ganges Mahamudra, Tilopa’s oral instructions for accomplishing enlightenment – considered the source text for the tradition of Mahamudra – and read a commentary by Thrangu Rinpoche, a living, realized master of these teachings.

Every participant is responsible for obtaining a copy of The Life of Tilopa & the Ganges Mahamudra by Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche by the first class.
