— Dagpo Tashi Namgyal, 16th century

The Wisdom teachings of Tibet describe the natural state of human existence as enlightenment itself - a totally clear, pristine, sensitive, blissful, loving, unified field of awareness.  In the moment when the sense of being a self separate from everything else dissolves, the natural state is spontaneously present.  The heart of Tibetan Mahamudra meditation is to recognize this natural state, to become stable in it, and finally to live our life in this continuous awakening.  There have been several Tibetan prophesies that Mahamudra is the spiritual practice for the modern era that will quickly awaken many people in the West.  For this reason our advanced meditation group is focusing this entire year on this profound practice.

In this weekly experiential workshop, we will use both formal and informal meditation, readings and discussion to bring these precious teachings alive in our own experience.  We will practice awakened communication in the group, speaking and sharing from our awakened awareness.  Our classes will be based on a contemporary interpretation of the 16th century Mahamudra meditation manual, Clarifying the Natural State by Dakpo Tashi Namgyal, an awakened master of Mahamudra.  This text is a thorough guide to anyone wanting to realize the natural state of enlightenment.

The instructor, Scott McBride, has practiced these teachings intensively for years under the direction of several realized Tibetan masters who have authorized him to teach.  Thoroughly grounded in experience, Scott fluently presents these ancient teachings in contemporary language and style making the teachings accessible and applicable to busy modern life

Each participant should acquire the book Clarifying The Natural State by Dagpo Tashi Namgyal before the first class.  Optional additional reading will be from a commentary on the main text, Crystal Clear by Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, a current day Mahamudra master.  Both of these books are available on-line at Amazon.com and other book sellers.

All workshop participants are strongly encouraged to attend the companion Summer Solstice Mahamudra Retreat June 24 – 26 described below.
