Level I Intermediate programs are designed for those who have one or more of the following

  • Have maintained a regular meditation practice ( i.e. 3 or more times a week) for the last 6 months
  • Completed 2 ClearLight Public classes, or the equivalent in another setting
  • Completed a Mindfulness-based Stress Management Program and one ClearLight Public class

Meditation as a Path to Fearlessness in Difficult Times

scary dark sceneryWe always have a choice: We can let the circumstances of our lives harden us and make us increasingly afraid or resentful, or we can let them soften us and make us kinder, more open, and accepting.  The practice of meditation provides us with tools to deal with the difficulties that life throws our way.  This wisdom is always available to us but we usually block it with habitual patterns rooted in fear.  Through regular meditation practice we awaken self-awareness and compassion allowing us to accept ourselves and others complete with faults and imperfections.  We find a natural stability and are able to stay in the present moment by seeing through the strategies of ego that cause us to resist life.

Classes will include meditation, talks, awareness exercises, contemplations and discussions.  Weekly readings will support our practice of these teachings.  Each participant should acquire The Places That Scare You by Pema Chodron for the first class.

This class is an opportunity to study with a qualified guide.  The instructor Scott McBride has over 35 years of training in Tibetan Buddhism and has spent several years in meditation retreat.  He has studied, practiced, and taught these teachings extensively.

Pre-requisites: This course is appropriate for those who have a year or more experience with a regular mindfulness, loving-kindness (metta), and/or Exchange (tonglen) practice.

  1. INTERNET CLASSROOM
    You can take this class remotely and on your own timetable by accessing audio recordings at our website (requires computer and internet access.)
    A new set of recordings will be made available each week.

    Cost:   $100, register anytime up until June 7
    Access to the recordings will be provided after registration.
