Practicing the Power of Now

Weekly Class
Three Registration Options:  2 Live Classroom options or Audio via the Internet

January 13th - March 17th

practicingthepowerofnowbookcover Somewhere between the past and the future lies the ordinary mystery of Nowness -  ordinary because it is simply here, but a mystery because we rarely experience it fully or for any length of  time.  Instead we spend our wakeful moments pursuing thoughts of the past, imagining a future that hasn’t occurred, or both.  Even when we focus on solving current challenges, we find ourselves “lost in thought.”  Rare it is when, suddenly, we find ourselves free from occupation, senses alive, fully experiencing the moment.  At such times we feel moved by the power and mystery of What Is.

When we enter the present moment deeply enough we discover the eternal Now, infinite and timeless, the origin and sum total all at once.  This moment is all we truly have, and when we awaken to it, we have the potential to transform and uplift ourselves and the world.

In this class we will work with Eckhart Tolle’s meditation manual entitled Practicing the Power of Now as well as his first book, The Power of Now, to explore this ordinary mystery ourselves. Following an experiential approach, classes will include presentation and explanation of core teachings, specific practices designed to open up and deepen our ability to access this moment, guided meditations, discussion, and exercises. This class is open to those with an existing meditation practice who want to deepen their meditation for genuine spiritual growth. For those already familiar with his work, this class is the opportunity to practice the instructions and experience its depth in the support of a group and under the guidance of an experienced teacher.

  • There will be weekly readings from Ekhart Tolle’s The Power of Now and Practicing the Power of Now, so please acquire your own copies before the first class.

  • A regular personal mindfulness meditation practice required

  • Each weekly class includes an opportunity to raise questions and discuss material

  • Audio recordings of each class will be posted to the internet, accessible by all class participants for listening or downloading.

Intensives

“No matter what activity or practice we are pursuing, there isn’t anything that isn’t made easier through constant familiarity and training.  Through training, we can change, we can transform ourselves.”                    -The Dalai Lama

One Day Intensives are an opportunity to deepen and revitalize your meditation practice.  There is no substitute for intensive practice.  For the mind that thirsts for peace and contentment, intensive practice is like drinking deeply from a mountain stream.
